the obsession with how women age and implying some women age “well” and some don’t is so ugly and we need to stop perpetuating this because it’s only damaging self worth even more
the obsession with preventative skincare measures to avoid signs of aging is only going to make people feel even worse when (shocker) those expensive lotions and potions don’t actually prevent them from going through the natural process of aging. aging isn’t bad. aging is completely natural and i’m tired of messages telling me i need to look ten years younger than I am (and, in turn, beautiful. thus, perpetuating the notion that beauty = worth) for the rest of my life. we, as women, (primarily) since that’s the target of most skincare product ads, deserve better and should be allowed to go through life without the constant pressure and terror of aging. we have worth as women that go far beyond our looks. we have intrinsic worth as human beings because we exist.
