A gay-coded villain is a villain that seems gay, flirting with gay stereotypes and aesthetics and perhaps having some homoerotic subtext but whose sexuality is never openly confirmed, or who turns out to be effectively straight.

A villain-coded gay is openly homosexual but embodies many of the trappings of cartoonish villainy without actually… doing bad things or hurting people… like the Addams Family’s gay cousin.
