Snowflake Challenge Day 3
Day 3: In your own space, share a favorite piece of original canon (a TV episode, a song, a favorite interview, a book, a scene from a movie, etc) and explain why you love it so much.
I'm so old! I've gone for two of them, the Bladerunner one is from my teens - I saw this movie every night it was on in our local cinema because it was just so mindblowing. It looks almost cliched now, but that is because it's the original from which the cliches were born.I don't think I've ever really changed in terms of fanning. I love a pretty villain with a sense of honour and a perfectly understandable reason to do what they do. And while all the characters I care about do eventually die, they don't often get death scenes as epic as this one. This one hits not only my villain/outcast stanning, but also my tendency to identify with the robot/construct as it rebels against its creator.
Then this one comes along in my early twenties:
And it's the first time ever I've seen a female starship captain whom we actually know as a fully formed character get a supreme moment of badassery. It makes me grin even now. Even now, how often do we get to see a female character stand up and give a hero speech like this before laying down an ultimate smackdown? Susan Ivanova was pretty damn special AND she got to live afterwards!
