A lot of my Tumblr friends are not as far as I know on Dreamwidth, so I've been going around subscribing to lots of people who I don't yet know, just on the basis that you're friends of friends and on a cursory glimpse I liked what I've read in your journals. But finally it occurs to me that you might like to know something about me.

I'm a fan-crone by now. I got my start on Yahoo groups when I was in Star Wars TPM fandom, left them for LJ, where I passed through Silmarillion fandom and Pirates of the Caribbean fandom and ended up writing for Loki fandom from the first Thor movie.
I started off as galadhir and changed to potboy with the shift to PotC.

Then I went to Tumblr and cycled through Stargate SGU and Star Wars TFA, and TLJ with a heavy interest in Hux, to which I'm more or less clinging on for lack of anything better.

I didn't like to share anything very personal on Tumblr - it didn't feel like a safe environment - but when I had my LJ it was a mix of fannishness and personal life, so I hope to revert to that here.

Personal life wise, I am ace and agender. I'm an indie-author of mm romance, sf/f and cozy mystery, and I'm probably likely to talk about morris dancing a lot because that's my major hobby. I'm in three different morris sides and I dance three nights a week and a lot of weekends too. It doesn't leave time for much else.

I'm new to this site but I like what you post and totally get what you said about Being wary of Tumblr. You have a good taste in fandoms and I look forward to reading what you have to say or write? I don't know. Happy dreaming!

Hello! I found your journal by looking over people's f!lists and got a huge smile on my face when I saw "Star Wars TPM fandom." That was my first online fandom as well, I jumped heard-first into the QuiObi slash pit and lurked in both Yahoo groups and forums, before finding LJ (and getting into J-Rock RPF 😂). I was in the Silmarillion fandom as well (and still keep tabs on new fic, the Tolkien Legendarium and the SW PT are two of my "this feels like coming home" fandoms).

Wholly agreed re: Tumblr, I made the mistake of pushing back against a lot of the anti-ace sentiment on there (being ace myself as well) and got harassed and smeared to hell and back for it. 'Unsafe' is putting it mildly. I keep saying I'll try to be more active on here, but social-media has me spoiled with too much ease-of-content.

Hello! How nice to meet you :) and yes, same. It's nice to have some fandoms that you know will always feel like home, even while you miss the excitement of having new ones. I was a gen writer in TPM, though always a slash reader. Then I had a few years of writing slash going through Tolkien fandom to Pirates of the Caribbean, but recently I've been going back toward gen. The slash writing period was a source of enormous religious and self-discovery, but obviously not something I wanted to do in the long run. Meh. Show me a permanent state of the self, Mom ;)

I am finding it difficult to get off Tumblr, where I've finally become comfortable, if only because I've blocked a whole load of people and also I rarely say anything. But I do miss the better community and discussions of LJ days, and every so often I have a 'must get back to DW and try actually blogging again,' phase.

Because this Potboy LJ is tied to Tumblr, so it's full of Tumblr reblogs, I started up a new DW where there wasn't any of that stuff. So this is me on my new DW where I am logged in permanently. I think I may have friended you over there anyway. Your name looks very familiar!
