Star Wars + text messages, featuring Rose and Rey
#one of my gleeful fave headcanons about rey is that she has 100% had to hide a body at some point#and has killed multiple people on jakku#purely as a matter-of-fact part of survival#like if someone comes at you they’re not holding back so to survive you HAVE to be last man standing every time that happens#like sure she’s a ray of sunshine but also: her Feral reading is off the charts#off. the. charts.#she’ll kick your ass she’ll kick teedo’s ass she’ll kick her own ass she’s 100% ready#to murder at the merest hint of self-defence at all times#so when poe dispatches a stormtrooper scout someplace and is like ‘quick we should hide him in the sand’#so they dont get caught or draw attention#and she’s just like ‘actually dry sand will keep a body pretty stable so if you wanna get rid of it-#-you need to find something to eat the remains’#and poe rose and finn are like ‘……….what’#and she’s like ‘what’
My big THING regarding Rey is that she’s way too well-adjusted in the movies for someone who has been basically feral since childhood. Just “I didn’t know there was so much green” and that’s it. She doesn’t work 18-hour days and clear the entire starship maintenance’s repair backlog before anybody tells her she doesn’t have to accomplish that much. She doesn’t start a fight in the cafeteria and beat some dude half to death for throwing away uneaten food. She doesn’t cut herself open on an unfamiliar power tool, tie off the wound, continue working, and ask “what’s that?” when someone asks what she’s doing out of the medbay.
Rey would totally have killed a few people—but I bet she’d be vaguely surprised to learn that body disposal is expected and useful out here and a necessary part of not getting caught. I suspect Jakku was kind of a slight murderworld where finding someone dead meant a quick loot before you left it out because hiding bodies takes energy and anybody could have killed them and your best bet was to be viewed as Scavenger #2. And Poe’s gotta be like, no, if they see a dead First Order goon they’re gonna realize something’s up, out here when we kill someone, we hide them in the storage closet or trash compactor so nobody knows they’re dead.
