I’ve done this and wouldn’t now go back to the shop bought versions because mine work better and smell nicer, as well as meaning that I don’t throw out a ton of plastic spray bottles every month.
Abandon shampoo and conditioner
How about saving money on shampoo & conditioner while no longer having to buy and throw out shampoo & conditioner bottles every month? Consider going to water-only hair washing.

I’ve been doing this now for the past couple of months, and after an initial 4 days of feeling miserably grimy, my hair now feels no different than it did when I was shampooing and conditioning it. I can’t believe I wasted so much time, money and plastic on a bunch of completely unnecessary chemicals when I could have been doing this all my life instead.
(I live in a moderately hard water area and occasionally benefit from rinsing my hair with apple cider vinegar to make it extra bouncy and fluffy, but if you’re lucky enough to live in a soft water area, you’ll get soft, glossy locks without bothering with that.)
