i just cannot get over how poignant it is that when crowley and aziraphale break the rules by falling in love with the world, it’s largely because they’ve also fallen in love with the experience of going through life with a companion and the magic of little everyday things when they’re shared with someone you love. and so when they fight to stop the apocalypse, it’s so fundamentally tangled up in fighting for the ability to keep on sitting beside one another and going out for meals and watching ducks and arguing about music and bantering over terrible magic tricks and doing little things to make the other happy or safe and just adoring and taking care of each other. it’s such a simple story that says so much about the human experience and it’s so profoundly moving, so efficiently and sweetly told. love is the thing that makes them turn their backs on hell and heaven – love for food and drinks and dancing and the arts and nature, but most importantly, love for someone else. like, that’s A LOT.
