Is anyone is in the mood for some feel-good, happy-ending Star Wars fic of people from very different lives, who love each other deeply, trying to work out their differences? Well, that’s what I wrote in Happily Ever After, a gingerpilot fic set after The Last Jedi. Peace was brought to the galaxy (events for that can be found in the larger Grey Order saga) and Hux and Poe get married and spend their honeymoon at Poe’s family’s place on Yavin IV. They have a lot to work out between them, but I promise a satisfying, hopeful, conclusive ending! (the fic is complete)
Transitioning to civilian life is a huge upheaval for anyone in the military. Add on moving from single to married. Add on moving into a totally different culture for Hux. Add on years of unaddressed, repressed trauma, also on Hux’s part. Add on a helpfully interfering Force sensitive tree. And then there’s Kes, Poe’s father, who hates the Empire, the dark side, and anything that looks like either of those … like Hux … who has married Kes’ son, so he’s got to get over himself.
It’s not the usual recipe for happily ever after, but by the Force, Poe and Hux will make it work!
