Not to go Greek myth on main here or anything. But a large part of the reason why a majority of monsters and such in Greek myth are women is because while men’s sexuality and such was seen as orderly and necessary for society, women’s sexuality (and women in general) were seen as needing to be controlled or else essentially their sheer destructive force would wipe out society.
Additionally Medusa was originally exceptionally beautiful, got raped, and then cursed to be ugly by Athena (bc side note, Poseidon raped Medusa in Athena’s temple). However my favorite thought on the matter - which comes direct from a horde of tea snob classics professors including one who studies pottery and cooks at the college cafeteria for funsies, and another who I’m 99% sure is a chaotic neutral bisexual who curses at people in Latin - is that Athena actually didn’t CURSE Medusa. She provided Medusa with a way of PROTECTING HERSELF, which men at the time viewed as being monstrous.
So anyway the point here is that Medusa being gay would make absolute sense Greek mythos wise. It’s just that male poets would NEVER talk about that.
<3 Medusa and her wife living a happy life on their island and turning gross ass dudes who try and bother them into stone is the kind of goodness I am here for <3
