Imagine spending your entire life since childhood learning how to lead others as you travel into the furthest abyss of unknown space so you can help rebuild the Imperial order, building an entire army of stormtroopers from scratch and monitoring the construction of a superweapon that will destroy the New Republic senate and navy, just for some whiny new kid to show up and be groomed by your boss as his successor, kill your boss and become your new boss and proceed to abuse you at every turn and even your superweapon was destroyed by some fluke.
And then imagine the old lizard…um…sorry…wizard, who was dead, coming back and taking everything from you and telling you everything you rebuild was not good enough and everything good enough is now his. So. More abuse. Maybe you should consider betraying your abusers.
