I have a theory that a lot of the criticisms people have for Ao3 comes from the fact the people criticizing it often look at Ao3 as if it were a social media site. Which it isn’t. It’s an ARCHIVE. There is no blacklisting/blocking feature for certain user’s works on Ao3 because it doesn’t operate like a social media site in that way. It’s an archive.
*banging pots and pans together* IT’S AN ARCHIVE! IT’S LIKE STEPPING INTO A LIBRARY WHERE YOU GO TO PICK OUT BOOKS! NOT A SOCIAL EVENT! YES YOU CAN TALK TO PEOPLE IN THE COMMENTS BUT THAT’S SUPPOSED TO BE FOR COMMENTING ON THE WORK ITSELF! IT’S NOT A SOCIAL MEDIA SITE! A R C H I V E.
