Picard’s message is one of tolerance, forgiveness, of personal growth, ethics and humanitarian ideals, yes there are gritty scenes, are they necessary I don’t know (I’m not bothered, I love me some gritty scenes) but the intentions and the message are definitely there, nothing is black or white.
