A deeply biassed summary of the story of the Hux comic for those who are wondering whether to get it:

It opens with a flashback of little Armitage being ordered by Admiral Brookes to lick up spilled wine and broken glass.

Then he regains consciousness to find he and Kylo have crash landed on a planet and Kylo denies keeping him safe deliberately.

They have no communications and no way of calling for help. They are then attacked by two big furry monsters. Hux hides while Kylo fights them.

Kylo is knocked out by the monsters and their owner/trainer turns up.

Hux engages him in conversation, finds out that he’s an exile from Alderaan who hates the Empire, tells him the war is over now and that Hux is here with the prince of Alderaan.

He strongly implies that he’s a friend of House Organa and a member of a new peaceful, victorious Republic.

The guy recognizes Kylo as looking very like both Han and Leia. Hux says that Kylo is indeed very like Leia (which is funny to me as he clearly doesn’t mean that in a flattering way.)

The guy (Bylsma) has been observing radio silence all these years because he was afraid of being found by the Empire, but Hux tells him that the Empire is gone and it’s safe to re-join the world now.

Convinced that they are friends, Bylsma allows them into his home to use his communications unit to call for help.

A shuttle comes down, full of stormtroopers and Phasma. They blast the furry monsters and destroy the guy’s comms, but Hux says to leave him alive. He intends to use the planet as target practice for Starkiller later.

They return to the Finalizer.

Kylo asks Snoke why he keeps Hux around. Snoke says Hux’s spite and ability to get over pride and shame makes him useful.

Meanwhile, Hux has found out who sabotaged the shuttle in the beginning. They were a technician under the command of Admiral Brookes.

This gives Hux a good opportunity to execute Brookes, which he does, after reminding the man that he never forgets a slight, he’s just patient enough to wait for revenge until an opportune time.

“They have all tried to destroy me,” he says. “But I am a destroyer of worlds. They underestimate me.”

Then there’s an afterword which reiterates the same thing - that Hux is more dangerous than everyone in the FO assumes.

I liked it. Hux is very competent throughout, even if he does do absolutely no fighting. He doesn’t get to be badass with weapons, but oh, he’s very clever and really lightning fast on the uptake. He uses being underestimated as maybe his greatest weapon.
