don’t get me wrong, I love beauty and the beast, I could happily read/watch/etc. nothing else but beauty and the beast adaptations for the rest of my media-consuming days
but.
if beauty found herself in a tough situation and went “well, I guess I would bang a monster born of magic and bad decisions, that’s something I did not know about myself!!!” janet went ahead and put on sensible boots and marched into the enchanted castle pulling every rose she sees up by the roots and going “WHERE’S A GIRL SUPPOSED TO FUCK A BEAST AROUND HERE”
…also, when Tam Lin tries to tell her she’s trespassed on his magic castle, her response is That’s Not How Property Rights Work You Mystical Maidenhead-Taking Squatter, which I think we can all agree is amazing.
(for extra lols, you can imagine Tam Lin as Coming Out Of The Well To Bang and/or Steal From Womankind)
Anyway, my actual favorite part of the entire story is that presumably Janet just wanted to get rid of her pesky virginity in the most epic way possible and had no intention of sticking around past the initial banging-of-an-elf, because she goes home directly afterwards. This is the part I always like to imagine Tam Lin Languishing For Love Of Janet (The Best I Ever Had), and like. Sighing a lot, and looking forlornly into his well, and being a generally useless Romantic poet about everything.
He probably writes sad poetry about it. The rhymes are terrible.
Anyway, the only reason anyone brings it up again is because a few months later, Janet’s hugely pregnant and her dad finally, tentatively asks, “so uh….this baby. who….?”
“NONE OF YOUR STUPID KNIGHTS THAT’S WHO,” Janet says, because Janet has no chill at all, no chill at all has she, and so she hies to Carterhaugh—
Anyway, she shows up on Halloween, because Janet has an appropriate sense of gothic timing, and Tam Lin is ecstatic to see her. He mentions super casually that actually he might die that night, presumably because he thinks this will convince her to bang one last one out.
(“About to be sacrificed to Hell by the faeries” is a pretty good fuck-or-die scenario, incidentally.)

Afterwards, the Fairy Queen appears and admits defeat and lets them go back to Janet’s father, who presumably was cowed into accepting this weird ex-changeling knight as his son-in-law.
Which just goes to show what any woman can accomplish if she has a sensible pair of boots, a proper sense of gothic timing, and goes around fucking whoever or whatever shows up when she weeds the garden.

We got into a debate in class the other day about Harry and Ginny as an endgame ship (long story, art school is weird) and my teacher made a super good point saying something like
“He didn’t just marry Ginny; he married into the Weasley family. They’ve been his real family for so long that it’s a natural conclusion to his arc.”
Which, like, FUCK, but also conjures the frankly breathtaking mental image of Harry proposing the idea one night at dinner and the ensuing fistfight over which one of the Weasley kids gets to marry him.

Today the Department of Awesomely Good Deeds salutes the team of volunteers at the the Wildlife SOS Elephant Conservation and Care Center in Mathura in North India. To help their elephants cope with cold winter weather they’ve been knitting gigantic sweaters for their rescued elephants. It takes about 4 weeks to make one elephant-sized sweater.
“It is important to keep our elephants protected from the bitter cold during this extreme winter, as they are weak and vulnerable having suffered so much abuse making them susceptible to ailments such as pneumonia,” cofounder Kartick Satyanarayan said in a release. “The cold also aggravates their arthritis which is a common issue that our rescued elephants have to deal with.”

I hope it’s ok to add to this post bc I want to explain further, we have a principle called pikuach nefesh that basically means preserving life overrides almost any other commandment. It’s the same reason ill and pregnant people don’t fast on Yom Kippur. I don’t know much about specific halachic debates vis-a-vis various medical treatments but there is NO concept of enduring unnecessary suffering because it’s “what God wants”, i think that’s an exclusively christian way of thinking.

have you ever tried to write a diary it’s freakin hard and all the movies lied ok
Master’s degree in writing here.
This is why you might be having issues:
1) You’re self censoring. You spend more time worrying about what a hypothetical reader will think of you. Makes you stop being honest.
2) You don’t do it often enough. Carry that thing with you, write in it EVERY DAY. Write down odd thoughts, nightmares, shopping lists, weird tangents. That’s what it’s there for.
3) You’re trying to be profound and meaningful. This is raw, unedited shit… stop pretending that everything that comes out of your pen is going to be pure gold because it ain’t.
4) you’re worried about someone reading it in your lifetime. Create a cipher only you can read. Its easy as all hell to do, and you don’t have to panic about leaving your darkest secrets on a bus.
5) you’re trying to emulate fictional diaries… like, seriously… real life isn’t gonna hold up to something that’s been edited to within an inch of it’s life.
Also, another thing you might want to consider if you can’t keep one. Maybe you have adhd and you feel guilty about not being able to write an entry every day.
That’s okay, consistency is hard for us, practice might get you far… but our “far” might be two weeks of journaling before taking a mysterious break of a month. If that happens, don’t feel guilty. I believe in you and what you can achieve right now.
By all means, if you can handle it try what this super thoughtful person is suggesting up here (I will try my best myself!). But if you can’t, that’s also okay.

Leia/Hux (yes, I know, I know, I am predictable) stranded on the empty, but conveniently pretty nice and well-equipped station together (I didn’t want to give them more problems than “being in each other’s presence”. it’s enough). Unfortunately, the only equipment the station lacks is bathbubbles communication device, so they’re going to heroically resist trying to kill each other for a very long time…
Mostly psychodrama, slow development of relationship, worldbuilding, speeches, arguing and in-universe political discussions. Of course. Because me is me.

Aha, and who I should ping, because they might be interested in it - well, these, like, 4 people who ship them, too? FINALLY! I’ve been wanting to draw this au ever since reading THIS FIC ages ago and also because disheveled and scruffy imperials are super fun (and sexy) to draw. Redesigned a bunch of the uniforms to suit a more Imperial aesthetic (and the white cog/eye patch for Tarkin is inspired from THIS FIC).
I can imagine them being a very dysfunctional family who has each other’s backs no matter what. I had two mentalities while doing these; you either want to climb them like a tree or protect them at all cost (OR BOTH EHE). I mean look at Tarkin, I made him into the silver fox dad npc (who is done with everything and just wants to sleep) that you can’t date. Why? BECAUSE I CAN.

when crack is allowed in literally everything people get creative
Also, more stuff is finely hand-crafted and not optimized for maximum profit via production costs
I’m pretty sure this is optimized for maximum profit via being handcrafted and therefore only available to people with a vast amount of disposable income, though. aka this thing looks expensive.
