Your local farmer’s market has probably been shut down due to concerns about public gatherings. So you can’t go there to stock up.
Please don’t go buy a pallet of eggs that were farmed by human trafficking victims. Please don’t go buy fifty pounds of bacon from basically unregulated commercial pork farms. Don’t buy a dozen whole frozen chickens processed by slave labor. Don’t blow all your panic-buying cash on corporations who don’t belong to your local economy.
Please, just take a second. If you’re in the US, go to localharvest.org. If you’re not, search for your local farmer’s market. Either way, many of the vendors, the small farmers and local businesses who depend on your local farmer’s market to stay in business are hurting right now.

(If you’re near Washington DC/VA, definitely look up Sylvanaqua Farms, and give them a follow for incredibly salty and amusing and informative instagram stories about racism, land justice, herding cows with a truck, and catching loose chickens. my dude is fucking hilarious, but listen if you get butthurt don’t come for him, he’ll end you.)
Buy a box of local goods to stock up on food. Help save your local small food producers. Support your local food web. Hoard like a dragon, and feel good about it.
Also it’s fun and distracting to look at farm Instagrams because they usually have cute pictures of livestock guardian dogs and chickens. (Ontario: Topsy Farms are pure gold, with lots of essays about hippies.)
Sadly, I don’t have a local dairy, and I need butter for my self-soothing cooking needs, so I’m about to die historic on the fury road trying to do a Wegman’s run. Pray for me.

Several Hux Headcanons
Up until he was about 3-4 years old, Armitage was raised solely by his mother and the rest of the kitchen staff, all of whom had the native Arkanisian accent (which is an Irish accent in my head thanks to Domhnall). This means that his first words and sentences were all in that same Arkanisian/Irish accent. Sadly, any trace of anything less than perfect Imperial Basic (read: BBC English) was beaten out of him pretty early on, to the point that adult Hux doesn’t even remember ever having said accent.
Hux can play the piano (or whatever the closest Star Wars equivalent is). He enjoys the mathematics of written music and the way it translates into such sublime sound. He’s much more of a cerebral musician than a passionate one, but the artistry is there nonetheless.
He very rarely, if ever, swears. This is in direct contrast to just about everyone else in the First Order. Stormtroopers will swear a blue streak with little provocation. Officers might wait until they are off duty, but will swear like sailors in the canteen and such. Hux has never been heard to even say “damn” let alone anything stronger. The sole exception? Sex. Hux will let loose a veritable string of obscenities in multiple languages in the midst of pleasure.
Despite his apparent vanity about his appearance, Hux dislikes nearly everything about himself in a physical sense. He’s too skinny. His skin is too pale and it blushes/bruises way too easily. He hates his red hair. His face is too young-looking, too soft. The only thing he approves of is his height. He was a late bloomer and was relieved beyond measure when he finally shot up to 6’2”. He is only mildly annoyed that both Ren and Phasma are marginally taller.

But in canon it has been a long time since he’s done anything except be despised and suffer, and death is likely the only relief from that he was ever going to get.
The writers would have to change their minds seriously about the character if any continuing canon was to treat him with even a modicum of respect. Otherwise it’d be more of the same.

Get internet access without going through cable companies using cheap, low-tech equipment
Make your own beer, cheese, soap, wine… really anything you can make rather than buy is a success!
And HELP YOUR NEIGHBORS! Don’t just build/grow/mod/repair your own stuff, help them do it too! Share it! Depend on each other! Work together and grow closer with your community!

I just remembered it’s St. Patrick’s Day. Well, while we’re all stuck inside, here’s a recipe. In my mom’s handwriting, in the book she put together for me when I first left home.
3 1/4c flour
¼ c sugar
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
¾ tsp salt
½ c butter (omit salt if using salted butter)
1/3 c raisins
1 1/3c buttermilk (I always used buttermilk powder; now I’d use regular milk plus a tbsp of vinegar or lemon juice)
Heat oven to 350F. Combine dry ingredients, cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add raisins & buttermilk, mixing just enough to moisten. (Will seem very dry, have faith.)
Shape into a ball. Knead on lightly floured surface 10 times– will become very sticky. Persevere, just try to get it combined and not entirely attached to your hands or the board.
Plop in a ball shape onto a greased baking sheet (or use parchment paper or a silpat). Aim for a round loaf about 3 inches thick. Cut a 1/2″ deep cross on top. Bake 350 for 45 min, up to an hour– looking for browning on top.
Serve warm.
And in my handwriting underneath in a scrawl in pencil, it says, “If you’re not a total moron, you don’t need to be told to prepare the baking sheet before you start kneading.” I don’t remember learning that lesson, but I surely learned it.

i personally can’t wait for the post-sequel trilogy inevitably coming out in 2049 where the main antagonist will be uhhh [throws dart at board] poe’s younger cousin and the Big Plot Twist TM in episode 12 will be that palpatine is back yet again and he informs the protagonist that she is actually fucking uhhhh [spins wheel] captain peavey’s grandniece
brant dameron, grade-A bureaucrat who took over the new republic in an effort to overcompensate for his famous family and has since caused the whole galaxy to go to shit by sucking at politics but is too arrogant and full of spite to stop at this point, also has a weird hero-worship (villain-worship?) obsession with general hux, & myra peavey, tried really hard not to get involved in anything of Galactic Importance for most of her life but eventually found out she was force-sensitive and then ben solo (who ofc wasn’t really dead or has returned from the dead) showed up and was like “yeah you have to be trained in using the force now and also Do Things” and now she is very resentfully trying to fix the galaxy’s shit
other Things that will happen in this trilogy include: luke’s lightsaber is somehow recovered again and used in combat in episode 12, the jedi order will be killed off yet again in the timeskip between episodes 9 and 10, palpatine will be back again in episode 12 out of nowhere, episode 11 will give brant some really interesting character development which will all be completely retconned in episode 12 to the point at which he is no longer really a single cohesive character, the force ghost of rey will appear in episode 11 and vaguely mention some important macguffin before disappearing, brant will be revealed to be force-sensitive and a pupil of rey’s before he turned to evil, and finn and rose won’t even get so much as a passing mention in the entire trilogy
I think you forgot to add that Myra turns out to also be secretly related to Luke, because excuse me, but you NEED the protagonist to be connected to Skywalkers either by blood or name. Because nostalgia.

Oh, forgot to add. About Esha. His origins will be teased by the producers. How come Obi-Wan has a descendant? Watch and see ;) ;) In the end, we never find out where Esha comes from. Or why he is even in the films; he spends most of his screentime yelling for no reason. Oh, and he might be Force-sensitive. That’s what the producers say in an interview once.
Pryde’s great-niece Kathline “Kitty” was teased as the Big Bad. She is queer-coded and has a fluffy white cat, after all. But the worst thing she does on-screen is make Ashleigh Hux (Hux’s younger cousin) cry during her thesis defense at her dissertation. Ashleigh passed anyway and graduates with a pHD. The two later make up, eventually marry, and write papers about superweapon design (it’s all super abstract and theoretical).
The audience’s reaction to them is: “Ok, Disney finally has some canon gay people whose romance was shown onscreen, but what are they doing and why are they here? Lesbian astrophysicists are nice, but they don’t do anything!”

brant dameron, grade-A bureaucrat who took over the new republic in an effort to overcompensate for his famous family and has since caused the whole galaxy to go to shit by sucking at politics but is too arrogant and full of spite to stop at this point, also has a weird hero-worship (villain-worship?) obsession with general hux, & myra peavey, tried really hard not to get involved in anything of Galactic Importance for most of her life but eventually found out she was force-sensitive and then ben solo (who ofc wasn’t really dead or has returned from the dead) showed up and was like “yeah you have to be trained in using the force now and also Do Things” and now she is very resentfully trying to fix the galaxy’s shit
other Things that will happen in this trilogy include: luke’s lightsaber is somehow recovered again and used in combat in episode 12, the jedi order will be killed off yet again in the timeskip between episodes 9 and 10, palpatine will be back again in episode 12 out of nowhere, episode 11 will give brant some really interesting character development which will all be completely retconned in episode 12 to the point at which he is no longer really a single cohesive character, the force ghost of rey will appear in episode 11 and vaguely mention some important macguffin before disappearing, brant will be revealed to be force-sensitive and a pupil of rey’s before he turned to evil, and finn and rose won’t even get so much as a passing mention in the entire trilogy
I think you forgot to add that Myra turns out to also be secretly related to Luke, because excuse me, but you NEED the protagonist to be connected to Skywalkers either by blood or name. Because nostalgia.
